Athlete Journal
Important
NEW in 2.1 renamed heart rate to max heart rate.
NEW in 2.1.1 added resting heart rate.
NEW in 2.1.1 remember last viewed metric.
NEW in 2.2 added bulk load, export, and remove for metrics.
In the Athlete Journal athletes can make notes regarding weight, ftp and many other metrics:
Weight
Critical Power (cp)
Max Heart Rate
Blood Pressure
Menstrual Cycle
Illness
injury
These metrics will then be used by Chapeau in certain calculations and for display on charts. To open the athlete journal, go to the Settings menu and choose Athlete Journal….
Click the + button to add a new record to the table. Or use the Load
button to load records from a CSV

Weight
Important
NEW in 2.5 added Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Define your weight at any point in time for your career. Choose a date and weight in the units of your preference.
Once a weight has been defined, it will be used to augment charts like the
Best power and FTP Estimates by adding a button to toggle
between Watts
and w/kg
.
Note
Weight values can be seen on the Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Functional Threshold Power
Important
NEW in 2.6 Added FTP Power and FTP Pace for Running
FTP (cycling)
Define your Cycling FTP (in Watts) for a specific date. When you enter a value for FTP it will be used as your estimated FTP for that date and for six weeks past that date.
The manual FTP value will be used in various calculations (e.g. load, intensity, etc.) and shown on the FTP Estimates chart.
Note
Manual FTP values are used by Chapeau but only for a period of six weeks from date and only if the metric is larger than estimated by Chapeau.
Note
Manual FTP values can be seen on the FTP Estimates chart.
FTP Power (running)
Define your Running FTP (in Watts) for a specific date.
FTP Pace (running)
Define your Running FTP as pace for a specific date. When you enter a value for FTP it will be used as your estimated FTP Pace for that date and for six weeks past that date.
The manual FTP value will be used in the calculation for determining running pace zones.
Note
Manual FTP Pace values are used by Chapeau but only for a period of six weeks from date and only if the metric is less than estimated by Chapeau.
Critical Power and Anaerobic Work Capacity
Important
NEW in 2.0
NEW in 2.1.1 include Critical Power Calculator on critical power and anaerobic work capacity
NEW in 2.5 added Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
NEW in 2.6 added Critical Power and Anaerobic Work Capacity for running.
term:critical power<Critical Power> and Anaerobic Work Capacity go hand in hand. These values can be added manually to your Athlete Journal or saved to your journal via the Critical Power Calculator.
Note
Manual term:Critical Power and Anaerobic Work Capacity values are used by Chapeau for a period of three months from date and only if the metric is larger than predicted by term:Critical Power modeling.
Note
term:Critical Power and Anaerobic Work Capacity values can be seen on the Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Max Heart Rate
Important
NEW in 2.1 renamed heart rate to max heart rate
NEW in 2.5 added Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Define your estimated max heart rate for a specific date.
When you enter a max heart rate, that value is used in some charts, notably on the Zones chart.
Additionally, the value is used during loading to determine if a session is invalid due to abnormally high heart rate values.
Note
Max Heart Rate values can be seen on the Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Resting Heart Rate
Important
NEW in 2.1.1 added resting heart rate
NEW in 2.1.1 define zones based on heart rate reserve
NEW in 2.5 added Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Define your estimated resting heart rate for a specific date. When you enter a resting heart rate, it will be used when determining heart rate zones by using Heart Rate Reserve. Heart rate zones are used throughout the application wherever heart rate is displayed.
Note
Resting Heart Rate values can be seen on the Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Core Temperature
Important
NEW in 2.3 added core temperature (for CORE Sensors)
NEW in 2.3.1 increase precision to 2 decimal places
The core temperature metric is specific to the CORE Sensor
heat ramp test
and corresponds to temperature observed at the Second Checkpoint.
Blood Pressure
Important
NEW in 2.1
NEW in 2.5 added Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Track your blood pressure and pulse measurements.
Blood pressure readings can be bulk loaded from a Chapeau formatted CSV
file
or from an OMRON data file format which has the following column names:
Date
Time
Systolic (mmHg)
Diastolic (mmHg)
Pulse (bpm)
Note
Blood Pressure values can be seen on the Athlete Journal Metrics chart.
Menstrual Cycle
Important
NEW in 1.6.0
Chapeau allows tracking of menstrual cycle and when present, Menstrual Cycle indicators will show up on the FTP Estimates and Training Load charts.
Note
Menstrual Cycle can be viewed on the FTP Estimates and Training Load charts.
Illness and Injury
Both illness and injury can have a huge impact on performance. Chapeau allows you to note what happened and when it happened so that it can be displayed with charts to help draw potential correlations to changes in performance.
Note
When present, Illness and Injury indicators will show up on the FTP Estimates and Training Load charts.
