Loading Data
Chapeau supports direct loading of a variety of file formats and can also be connected to Strava.
Warning
Strava activities are missing the full data available in original files, for example, power balance, pedal smoothness, or torque effectiveness are not present in Strava activities. To get the most from your data use the original files.
From File
Chapeau supports loading data from multiple different file types including the following:
Flexible and Interoperable Data Transfer (.fit) – format specifically designed for sports. Very commonly used.
GPS Exchange Format (.gpx) – commonly used format developed by topograpfix.
Training Center XML (.tcx) – older standard developed by Garmin.
gzip files (.gz) – gzip files will be extracted, and any supported file types will be collected and loaded.
Golden Cheetah (.json) – files exported by Golden Cheetah.
Files can be loaded by dragging and dropping them directly onto the session tree from Finder (macOS) or Windows Explorer. Or through the File –> Import… menu option, the mini toolbar or from the Import button directly.
Once files are imported the session tree on the left will be populated:

From time to time, it may be necessary to define a session manually without the benefit of data from a head unit. This is a useful way to track your training load for non-Cycling workouts. Chapeau provides this capability in the Edit menu under the Add Manual Session menu item, choosing between Cycling… or Running….
Define the time, distance, and intensity of your session. Speed / Pace will be calculated based on time and distance.
If your database has power data, the Power will be calculated based on the Estimated FTP for the date specified on the window and multiplied by the Intensity provided.
Note
FTP is estimated on a per sport basis.
